From his research into the recorder, song and ensemble music for voice and period instruments, Gabriel Garrido (Buenos Aires) is an expert on music of the Renaissance and pre-Baroque periods. A virtuoso instrumentalist, he was a co-founder of the Glosas Ensemble (1980) and then Ensemble Elyma (1981). He is a teacher at the Centre for Ancient Music in Geneva and, as musical director, devotes as much time to unearthing forgotten works and reinterpreting Monteverdi as he does at rediscovering Latin-American Baroque.
