Aya Suzuki (composer & performer) was born in Japan and studied classical music in Tokyo under marimba legend Keiko Abe. In 2017 she graduated with distinction from the Conservatory of Ghent (KASK) and since then she has been working in Belgium as a freelance musician, composer and performer. As a solo percussionist, she has experience with repertoire by composers such as Xenakis, Bach, Donatoni, Lang, Rzewski, Cage and Miyoshi. Her performance style is based on the conviction that music is not only sound, but that it also choreographs physical movements. Aya has been invited to perform at Wilde Westen, STUK, Concertgebouw Brugge, MIRY Concertzaal, Musica in Pelt, Ha Concerts, Het Bos, De Bijloke, Festival Lunalia, Ancienne Belgique and BigBang festival hosted by Zonzo Campagnie, among others. Since 2022 she has been playing as a guest musician with ICTUS, Spectra and Needcompany. (website
