Arturo den Hartog took his first steps as a singer at the age of 8, as a church singer in his native Suriname and later continued his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.
He is a versatile performer with a big love for Opera, Lied, Baroque- and Contemporary music.
Recently, Arturo made his solo recital debut in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and his opera debut at the Dutch National Opera and LOD muziektheater with Spectra ensemble with The Girl, the Hunter and the Wolf by Vasco Mendonça. Other recent engagements include a tour to Suriname with Holland Baroque, multiple performances during the O. Festival 2022 and 2023, Batenburg Baroque Festival, the Koorbiënnale 2022 as soloist with S t a r g a z e and multiple appearances at the Opera Forward Festival in Amsterdam.
He often performs music of black composers and with this appeared in different festivals, the Dutch National Opera, and with high acclaim in ‘Podium Witteman’.
Since September 2023 Arturo is artist in residence at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. Next to the performances there, Arturo is looking forward to upcoming engagements that include performances with Theater Transparant in de Singel in Antwerpen, the new operetta show of director Steef de Jong and reappearances in the recital hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
