Iker began to develop as a dancer at a very young age attending jazz and hip hop classes in his hometown, Hondarribia. Since then, his evolution as a dancer has led him to share stages with leading singers and dancers inside and outside our borders.
As a choreographer, Iker founded his own contemporary dance company in 2016. His piece #7fm stands out, which has been awarded nationally and internationally and has been performed in the main European capitals and at numerous festivals such as the Battery Dance Festival in New York.
His first full-length production was No Pleasure; the piece has been part of the Danza a Escena 2021 circuit and has been performed in theaters throughout the national territory. The Room Where It Happens is his latest creation and this time it is a co-production with the Conde Duque Center for Contemporary Culture of Madrid and wins the Best Contemporary Dance Choreography Award at the 4th edition of the Godot Awards.
At the end of 2022, Iker choreographed his new piece, Table for one, at the American L.A. Contemporary Dance Company. Thanks to the Spain dances program of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington DC, Iker made his first creative residency in Los Angeles, California.
In cinema, he has choreographed the musical film Voy a pasármelo bien, directed by David Serrano and in theater, he has also choreographed the musical Mamma Mia! In advertising, his choreography Haunted by Love for Vogue Spain has been awarded at the La Jolla International Film Festival in California and at the Canadian International Fashion Film Festival. He has also choreographed campaigns for Bvlgari, Benetton, McDonald’s and Cupra among many others.
Additionally, his dance film heartache wins the Special Jury Prize at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival and and won the First Prize and the Special Jury Award at the Area51 FilmFest in New Mexico and the Kinetoscope International Screendance Festival in the USA. It also screened in the Official Selection of the Dance On Camera Festival at the Lincoln Center in NYC and at the CineDANS Festival in the Netherlands.
In 2018 he was part of the renewed television show Fama ¡a bailar!, initially as a teacher and, in the latest edition, as a director.
He has also worked with the Oscar winners AR.Rahman and Shekhar Khapur choreographing their artistic collaboration, Why? The musical, at ExpoDubai 2020. In addition, he expands his experience by choreographing major international events such as the Closing Ceremony of the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 with David Guetta and Bebe Rexha in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
As a teacher, Iker has taught contemporary and jazzfunk classes all over the world in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London, Mexico, Paris, Rome, Naples, Prague and Brussels, among others. He has been invited to the María de Ávila Superior Conservatory of Dance and the Fortea Professional Dance Conservatory.
After more than 15 years of teaching experience, Iker decided to create his own school and artistic project, 180, motivated by his firm belief in the transformative power of dance and its ability to connect and inspire people.
