At the age of seventeen, Lena Meyskens (b. 1991) started studying classical singing with Axel Everaert at Maastricht Conservatory. During this period, she was a member of Karmijnrood Podiumkunst led by Joost Horward and Peter Stam, numerous chanson concerts, accompanied by Bart Rademaekers and participated in masterclasses with Gemma Visser, Ludger Engels and Jan van Opstal at the Jekerstudio. She concluded this period with several performances of Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine.
Afterwards she studied French and English literature and theatre at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. After several internships as a dramaturg with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and Toneelgroep Maastricht, among others, she obtained her master's degree with the highest distinction.
Over the past few years she has been working as a dramaturg for Liesa van der Aa, Timo Tembuyser and Aïda Gabriëls. She also gives guest lectures and workshops about drag in institutions such as the VUB and the International Opera Academy in Ghent and teaches opera hisotry and music dramaturgy at the Toneelschool of Maastricht.
