At the age of seventeen, Lena Meyskens (b. 1991) began studying classical singing with Axel Everaert at Maastricht Conservatory. During this period she was a member of the theatre group Karmijnrood Podiumkunst, sang in numerous chanson concerts and took masterclasses with Gemma Visser, Ludger Engels & Jan van Opstal in the Jekerstudio. She concluded this period with several performances of Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine. Afterwards she studied French and English Language and Literature at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She undertook a series of internships as a dramaturg with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and Toneelgroep Maastricht, among others. In 2020 Lena obtained her Master’s with distinction. She regularly gives guest lectures and dramaturgy workshops on drag and opera to, among others, the VUB and the International Opera Academy in Ghent. She currently works as a dramatist for One Trick Pony (Liesa van der Aa), Timo Tembuyser (Transparent/Festival Cement) and Aïda Gabriëls. She is also working on her own project WEST in collaboration with Fleur Pierets and Liesa van der Aa, which is set to premiere in 2025
