Peter Quasters (°1969) studied biochemistry at the Hogeschool Ghent. Following his studies he took an autodidactic approach to becoming a visual designer for the performing arts, specialising in lighting design.
The lighting he creates is shaped by both abstract and sculptural notions. Examples include De koningin zonder land (2014), Earth Diver (2016) and Harriet (2018).
He has worked with such performing artists as Wouter Van Looy, Claron McFadden, Heiner Goebbels, Pierre Audi, Jean Lacornerie, Jorge Leon, Paul Koek, Letizia Renzini, Annelies Van Parys, Wim Catrysse, Wim Henderickx, Hilda Paredes and Kurt D’haeseleer.
His designs have been seen in productions at the Rurhtriennale, Beijing Music Festival, NY Prototype festival, Royal Opera House Linbury Studio (London), Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), Opera Forward (Amsterdam), Deutsche Oper Berlin, Klara Festival, Holland Festival, Operadagen Rotterdam, Boralis Festival (Bergen), November Music, Ultima Festival (Oslo), Festival Actoral (Marseille), Montréal Les Coups de Théâtre, Valetta 2018, Festival International Cervantino (Mexico), Festival Vértice (Mexico City), Opéra de Rouen, Opéra de Lille, Opéra de Djion, Le Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Kunstfestpiele Hannover, Radar Festival (Varna) and the Armel Opera Festival (Budapest).
