With the guidance of director Wouter Van Looy and baroque expert Nicolas Achten, young singers and musicians create their own version of Claudio Monteverdi's masterpieces.
Every summer, Muziektheater Transparant hosts a series of intensive rehearsals for young singers and musicians to create their own version of baroque master pieces. Previous editions focused on some of the world's most cherished baroque operas such as Cladio Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (2010), John Blow's Venus and Adonis (2011) and Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (2012). In 2013 Monteverdi's madrigals are the point of departure. These vocal works of genius are almost like miniature operas. The Italian composer follows up on the emotional contrasts in the music with expressive and innovating sonorities and unexpected changes in tempo. Famous madrigals such as T'amo, mia vita, Altri canti d'Amore and Hor che 'l ciel e la terra are the perfect opportunity for director Wouter Van Looy and musician Nicolas Achten to help their young team to work with big emotions while they, in their turn, are given an insight in the feelings and desires of today's young creators.
