Music Theatre with a Global Perspective
Muziektheater Transparant is a production house that places artistic and societal relevance at its core. We engage in dialogue with artists from various disciplines and create, innovate, and present music theatre in all its diversity at an international level. By combining interdisciplinary forces and approaching music theatre as a genre from all its facets, we aim to reach the widest possible audience with our performances.
Our focus is on the voice, with particular attention to the combination of old and new music, as well as supporting contemporary composers and the development of their work. We seek exciting cross-pollinations, fascinating (vocal) sounds, and stories that matter. Additionally, we are eager to explore mixed media, dance, poetry, installation art, video, techno, sports (where percussion meets basketball), social media, circus, and more.
The youngest generation also matters: the newest wave of young creators is given the chance to immerse themselves in the world of music theatre through our annual youth project, part of TRANSLAB. A group of 15-25 year-olds dives into a theme they shape themselves. This is often how we, as a company, first come into contact with the music theatre creators of tomorrow.
With a strong international perspective, we work on touring performances and sustainable collaborations with partners from all around the world. Muziektheater Transparant has previously performed at prestigious festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele, KunstenfestivaldesArts, Edinburgh International Festival, RomaEuropa, Musiktheatertage Wien, Leipziger Buchmesse, Festival d’Automne à Paris, and the Holland Festival. The wide array of performances and artists makes us a unique, welcoming company that aims to innovate both nationally and internationally.
