Marie van Luijk (1994) is a soprano from Zeeuws-Vlaanderen with a passion for pushing the boundaries of the human voice. At the heart of her work lies a deep curiosity for vocal exploration - experimenting with different styles and stretching the limits of her range. She is drawn to musical theatre that embraces playfulness, creativity, and a certain moral boldness. Collaborative music-making and improvisation are, naturally, very close to her heart. Marie trained at the Lemmens Institute before going on to refine her voice at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, where she specialised in early music. This is a field that holds a special place in her heart and remains a rich source of inspiration throughout her work. Marie is a woman of many interests: she writes poetry, practises breathwork, and teaches part-time at the Deinze Academy of Arts.
