Siebe Thijs (1999), born in Gent (BE), studied composition with Wim Henderickx and Bram Van Camp at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp (BE).

His compositions have been performed by both established ensembles, orchestra’s and promising artists such as Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Flanders Symphony Orchestra, Arditti Quartet, Ensemble Linea, ICTUS ensemble, I SOLISTI, Leuvens Universitair Koor, EMC... He received masterclasses from Daan Janssens, Frederik Neyrinck, Malin Bang, Martijn Padding, Elena Rykova, Claude Ledoux, Aurélien Dumont, Ansgar Beste and Mauro Lanza, amongst others. He also participated in several international composers academies and his music has been programmed in music festivals like Crossroads Festival (AT), Festival Arc-en-Ciel (FR) and Muziekzomer Gelderland (NL). In his music, Siebe is constantly searching for the development of intriguing timbres and textures, as well as questioning the role of the instrument, the object and electronics. Besides writing scores for musicians, he is interested in music theatre and multidisciplinary projects. These interests led to several collaborations with video artists Paulius Sliaupa (LT) and the creation of interdisciplinary music theatre performances such as L'acte de respirer, a production of TRANSLAB (Transparant), in which music, visuals, text and dramaturgy enter into dialogue with each other.
