Belgian artist Nathalie Van Meirvenne (b.1997) has a passion for new and old music, folk and improvisation, chamber music and music theater, singing and dancing. In life, Nathalie is always looking for a creative outlet which results in sincere and surprising performances. In doing so, she also further explores the polyphonic (accompaniment) possibilities of the flute, for which she received a grant from the Flemish Government. She is part of the Safety Last Soundpainting Ensemble. With accordionist Suzan Peeters she forms the improvisation duo NAAN and with accordionist Jeroen Werbrouck she forms a balfolk duo Marasc. Solo, she is working on the project HAAR. A song cycle in which Nathalie performs her songs solo and accompanies herself live on flutes, hairdryer and live electronics.
She has collaborated with several young composers and is co-founder and former member of the chamber music ensemble EMC. She currently collaborates as a musician/performer in several musical theater and dance performances.
Nathalie obtained her Master's degree in classical music performance at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in (2020), where she studied flute with Myriam Graulus and Dorine Schade. She also obtained her Educational Master in (2020). Through the Erasmus program, she studied at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Ruth Morley, Allison Mitchell and Janet Richardson. She later obtained a postgraduate degree in Chamber Music at The Royal Conservatory of Brussels (2022).
She is also a certified soundpainter and a passionate teacher.
