Peter Verhelst (1962) is one of the most celebrated writers of his generation. He writes poetry, novels, novellas, teenage fiction, screenplays, songs and plays.

His poetry has won him the Jan Campert and Herman De Coninck Prizes, among others. For his novel Tongkat he won the Jonge Gouden Uil, the Gouden Uil, the Bordewijkprijs, and the triennial Culture Prize awarded by the Flemish Community. His novel for teens, Het Geheim van de Keel van de Nachtegaal, garnered three major teenage fiction prizes: the Gouden Uil, the Gouden Griffel and the Woutertje Pieterse Prize.

As well as being a writer, Peter Verhelst is also a director working at NTGent, and along with the letter sculptress Maud Bekaert he curated the Bruges arts project QNX.

Following on from Medea and Moby Dick, Arthur is the third project on which Peter Verhelst and Veenfabriek are collaborating.
