Gaea Schoeters (°1976) writes novels, short stories and scenarios. In her most recent novel, De kunst van het vallen (De Bezige Bij), it is music that plays the leading role. In 2015 she created the opera Private View with Annelies Van Parys, which was awarded the FEDORA-Rolf Liebermann Prize for Opera. It has since been performed more than 15 times in Europe.
They are now continuing their collaboration in several new music-theatre projects, large and small: Angel (Concertgebouw Bruges, premiere 2017), Niets (Opera XXI, 2018), All is Fair (in Love and War) for the Neue Vocal Solisten Stuttgart (premiere 2017) and Prison, in conjunction with the Ictus Ensemble (in preparation). As a journalist and columnist on De Standaard, she keeps a critical eye on current affairs. In the meantime she is also working on her new novel, which will be published by Querido in 2017.
