Starting out as a soprano with the Wiener Sängerknaben, Austrian Georg Nigl (1972) has been involved in music since his childhood. After his voice changed, he developed into a baritone.

Nowadays, Nigl is an internationally renowned specialist in the field of early music and he is known to be a highly professional performer of contemporary music. In addition, he regularly performs works from the late 18th and 19th centuries as well as neo-classicist music.

His favourite opera parts are without a doubt Monteverdi's Orfeo, Mozart's Papageno and Berg's Wozzek.

Nigl has performed at the most important opera venues, amongst which the Scala in Milano, the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Munt in Brussels.

He worked with eminent directors like Andrea Breth, Andreas Homoki and Jürgen Flimm and with renowned conductors like Daniel Barenboim, Jordi Savall and Giovanni Antonini.

Georg Nigl has performed for radio and television on several occasions and he released a series of CDs and DVDs.
