Innerwoud is the solo project of double bass player Pieter-Jan Van Assche, created in Ghent in 2014. His music could be described as a mix between ambient, drone and neoclassical. Musical layers are built live on top of each other and merge with the different sounds produced by a double bass, resulting in a melancholic journey. Innerwoud made his debut in 2015 with the album Mirre on the Ghent label Consouling Sounds, which also hosts The Black Heart Rebellion, CHVE, Amenra and Inwolves amongst many others. In December 2018 Innerwoud released a second album with soprano singer Astrid Stockman on Consouling Sounds. He composed music for various performances and collaborated on several albums.
