Vasco Mendonça has had works performed in England, the Netherlands and Portugal. Recent premieres include the pieces Procession (commission IX International Festival of Music Mafra 2005), Plurabelle (First Prize, Lopes-Graça Composition Award 2004), Pulse Mechanisms (Gaudeamus International Contemporary Music Week 2003) and The Boys of Summer (Haarlem International Choir Festival 2003). His music has been performed in venues such as Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Ysbreker (Amsterdam), Vredenburg (Utrecht), Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester), Culturgest (Lisbon) and Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon). Among the interpreters of his music are the Asko Ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, Nederlands Vocaal Laboratorium, Orquestra Gulbenkian and Orquestra de Câmara de Cascais.
Mendonça graduated in composition at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. In 2004 he completed his Master in composition at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, under the supervision of Klaas de Vries and Theo Loevendie
