Andreas Spering (1966) is one of the leading specialists in historically informed performances. He was strongly influenced by his studies with Gerd Zacher in Essen and his position as harpsichordist with Musica Antiqua Köln and Reinhard Goebel. Since 1996 he has been Artistic Director of the Brühl Castle Concerts Festival and the Capella Augustina, which he founded.
As an opera conductor, Andreas Spering is invited to many well-known houses such as Gothenberg, Antwerp, Sevilla and Hannover a.o. in productions as The Abduction from the Seraglio, Der Freischütz and Almira. He conducted Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and was at once re-invited for Mozart’s La finta giardiniera. As Music Director of the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe, he conducted many Handel operas. Andreas Spering has collaborated with many orchestras incl. the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatskapelle Weimar and several radio orchestras.
This season he will conduct Le nozze di Figaro at the Royal Operahouse in Copenhagen. Furthermore he will return to the radio orchestra Cologne, Dresdner Philharmonie, the Beethovenorchester Bonn and give his debut with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra. Recordings by Andreas include Handel’s Siroe and Imeneo, Reichardt’s Erwin and Elmire, Mozart Arias and seldom performed works of Haydn, many of which received international awards and acclaim.
