Dorothee Curio (Berlin), studied theatre costume and scenery design at The Berlin Art Academy and the University of Helsinki. From 1998 to 2000 she worked as a set design assistant for the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and Anna Viebrock. Since 2000 she has been working as a freelance stage costume and set designer, taking on commissions from a range of theatre companies, including the Deutches Schauspielhaus Hamburg (D), Luzerner Theater (CH), Opéra Paris (F), Staatstheater Hannover (D), Volksbühne Berlin (D), Staatstheater Stuttgart (D), Schauspielhaus Bochum (D), Ruhrtriennale (D), NTGent, deSingel, Müchner Kammerspiele (D) and Veenfabriek (NL).

This work has brought her into contact with directors such as Christoph Marthaler, Anna Viebrock, Gianina Carbunariu, Jan Neumann and Johan Simons. Under the direction of Paul Koek, Curio designed the costumes for Candide, drei schwestern, Flow my tears, Moby Dick, and Medea.
