Nina is a moving tribute to the life and soul of Nina Simone, the legendary singer, pianist, writer, and civil rights activist. Through the powerful technique of heterodirection, soprano and performer Claron McFadden brings Nina Simone's voice to life in a free and meditative re-enactment that allows for a deep and intimate connection with the artist's inner world. Directed by Luigi De Angelis, the performance seamlessly weaves together Nina Simone's music, political views, wounds and energy into a captivating portrait. As part of Fanny & Alexander's mimetic portrait series, Nina pays homage to a key figure whose words and art continue to resonate with urgency and relevance today.
