The brass band meets up for a single rehearsal for the annual Christmas recital, but before long, the rehearsal stops going according to plan. François arrives late, it’s Irma’s birthday and she wants to treat everyone. Margje was supposed to take care of the food but has just come out of hospital and the harvest has failed. Irma has been eagerly eyeing up the role of the Virgin Mary for quite a while and Arno wants to play baby Jesus. Then a real-life Marie turns up, Arno’s wife whose existence no one was aware of, as a Deus Ex Machina. She holds up a mirror to the community, which breaks into a thousand pieces. Stille Nacht (Silent Night) tells the story of people from a small village where everyone knows each other and thinks they know everything about everyone.
