TRANSLAB
This year, the TRANSLAB project Metropolis marks the kick-off for the Metropolis Youth Festival 2026. Metropolis (1927) is the mother of all science fiction films: in his stoy, filmmaker Fritz Lang presents a vision of the year 2026. Now, a hundred years later, in a world where technology is advancing at lightning speed, young people reflect on their own future: What do I want with technology? What does technology want with me? What impact does this have on our city? And how do we translate this into art?
Metropolis will become a youth festival by and for young people, in collaboration with numerous cultural, social, and educational partners across the city. How do they imagine the future of the Man and the Machine a hundred years from now? Expect a festival featuring podcasts, theatre, music, workshops, music theatre, debates, film, exhibitions, catwalks, spoken word, and dance. Metropolis is a festival featuring multiple organisations such as hetpaleis, Muziektheater Transparant, Tutti Fratelli, Arenberg, KASK Antwerpen, de! Kunsthumaniora, BL!NDMAN and DE SINGEL.
