Musical drama by Iannis Xenakis based on lyrics by Aeschylus with added music by Annelies Van Parys.

Oresteia (1965-66) is one of Xenakis’ most striking and theatrical works. An Oresteia tells the tale of Orestes, son of Klytaimnestra and Agamemnon. Encouraged by his sister, Electra, he kills Klytaimnestra as an act of revenge for murdering his father. Torn between vengeance and guilt, he faces trial for his act. However, the goddess Athena intervenes.
