An installation with a series of lamentations and musical memories from the past that resemble the theme of suffering in the arts.

«Why is suffering such a popular subject in the arts? Are we merely consumers of other people's pain or is there actual room for compassion? Which are the stories of our current time that reverberate this suffering? Is suffering a consoling or a necessary process in today’s society?».

Starting from these questions, Luigi De Angelis - together with Claron McFadden and Emanuele Wiltsch Barberio - holds an installation with a series of lamentations and musical memories from the past that resemble the theme of suffering in the arts: from Monteverdi to J. C. Bach, from Nina Simone to Giovanni Legrenzi, passing through Barbara Strozzi and John Downland. Claron McFadden is the emotional witness of a video polyptych that explores the echoes of a contemporary Passion: seven christological characters, inspired by seven recent cases, together with other possible characters of our time inspired by Evangels, float to seven screens, creating a progressive Painful Path for our gaze and perceptions.
