Following the international success of RUHE, Josse De Pauw and jazz composer Corrie Van Binsbergen created over the mountains. They address the desire and loss that never ceases.

The main character is not a person but a being brimming with desire. Artist Michaël Borremans shapes the main character. He picks up faint sounds from over the mountains and is drawn, taken, overwhelmed and blown away by the siren song. The American soprano Claron McFadden, the jazz and pop coming sisters Beatrice & Vera van der Poel, the rhythm section of the band Corrie en de Grote Brokken and some musicians such as David Kweksilber, the Bulgarian percussionist Tatiana Koleva and harpist Miriam Overlach merge in this opera to a colorful protagonist.
