Opera workshop for young people based on Platée by Jean-Philippe Rameau

In ten days of intensive work, a group of young musicians (15-25 years old) will take up the challenge of creating their own special opera. This annual summer project is based on a concept which in the past has proved to both simple and successful. The young singers and instrumentalists will be brought together around and on a theatre stage and set the task of creating an opera within ten days together with a group of professional coaches.
The project has received national and international recognition and resulted in a number of brilliant performances: with productions such as The Tempest, Zone Orfeo, and Drift, Transparant won much acclaim throughout Europe. Drift was selected for the 2004 Flemish-Dutch Theatre Festival. Many of the original performers are well on their way to acquiring a place for themselves in the casts of various music theatres and opera houses. For others it was an opportunity to indulge their passion for opera and musical theatre without having any professional ambitions.
