In bocca al lupo. In the wolf’s mouth. The theme of 2015’s youth opera is inspired by the wolf. Its skill at go into hiding, spreading panic, striking. What does it mean to be a wolf on the stage, as an artist, singer or instrumentalist? What traces might we leave? How do we strike? Can we, in our cultivated art form, still connect with the animal, the ancient forces that lie within us? This theme provides the basis for work involving the early Italian Baroque music of Monteverdi, Sances, Frescobaldi, Cavalieri et al. The musical and theatrical richness of the material allows us the freedom to determine the repertoire depending on the specific nature of the project, the chosen theme and the participants’ capacities. The musical director will be Nicolas Achten, the multi-instrumentalist, singer and artistic director of Scherzi Musicali. It will be directed by the Italian director and stage designer Luigi De Angelis who, with his Fanny and Alexander company, is a welcome guest at numerous international venues. This year he is directing Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
