Green Sneakers is an opera for baritone, an empty chair, string quartet and piano of the American composer Ricky Ian Gordon. On August 1st 1996, Gordon's partner Jeffrey Grossi died of the effects of AIDS. The green sneakers that remain in the wardrobe prompted him to compose a highly personal opera about his last days with Jeffrey together.
