Koen Janssen (1976) was 33 when he made his acting debut on stage. Before that, he had a career in economic engineering. He went to study theatre direction and teaching at the Theatre Academy in Maastricht (NL). He played parts in Laika's Othello, in Spelregels by the company fABULEUS and in a school performance with Paradijs. He continued to appear on national as well as international stages with Opera Buffa, an adaptation of Mozart's Don Giovanni, which was coproduced by Laika and Muziektheater Transparant.

Last season, Koen Janssen played a part in the pop-up performance Boven Water with the company De Queeste, in Het is ingewikkeld by Tg De Luchtmacht and in En we stierven nog lang en gelukkig by Sermoen.

His is now preparing for the premiere of his next project, Dostojevski’s Crime and Punishment, again with Laika.
