Ed Lyon is one of Britain's most versatile and sought after young tenors. Having studied History of Art at St John's, Cambridge, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio.  As well as principal roles at ROH, ENO, Opera North, Glyndebourne and WNO, his international career has included Madrid, Paris (Chatelet and Comique), De Nederlands Oper, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Festival d'Aix en Provence, Lyon, Bordeaux, La Scala, Theater an der Wien, Lille and Opera National de Rhin.

His busy concert schedule has similarly taken him to some of the greatest concerts halls in the world including Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Albert Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Halle des Beaux Arts Brussels, Salle Pleyel Paris, Alice Tully Hall New York, Palau de la Musica Valencia, Gulbenkian Foundation Lisbon.  

Ed's repertoire spans 500 years - from Monteverdi, Handel, Rameau and Lully, through Haydn and Mozart to Berlioz, Strauss, Stravinsky, Britten, and late 20th century composers.  Highlights have included Monteverdi's Orfeo, Hyllus in Handel's Hercules, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Lully's Atys, Rameau's Pigmalion, Tom in Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress and Freddy in My Fair Lady, Shell Shock, a new commission by Nicolas Lens at La Monnaie Brussels, Seeman In Tristan und Isolde and Steuermann in Die Fliegender Hollander.

Future operatic projects include the role of Eduardo in Tomas Ades new opera The Exterminating Angel in Salzburg and the Royal Opera House, Jupiter in Handel’s Semele for Karlsruhe and Septimius in Handel’s Theodora for Pinchgut Opera.

Recent CD releases include Handel’s Alexander’s Feast, Ode to Saint Cecilia and The Triumph of Time and Truth with Ludus Baroque and Grandi’s Vespers with Bach-Collegium Stuttgart.
