The MM Academy or Choral Academy at De Munt/La Monnaie is a recent project established in 2015 that gives singing students from Belgium’s 8 conservatoires the opportunity, after selection by audition, to gain professional experience in the chorus at De Munt/La Monnaie for at least one season. They are additionally offered master-classes, meetings with professionals and the possibility of attending all the productions, concerts, recitals etc.
The MM Soloists are young singing students with a clear profile as a soloists who emerge from the choral academy and are given extra coaching and opportunities at and outside De Munt/La Monnaie to help them develop their talent.
An MM Laureate is a young graduate in singing with a profile as a soloist who emerges from the choral academy and who is coached by De Munt/La Monnaie during the first few years of their professional career.
The project is a constructive response to the frequently observed lack of contact between the conservatoires and the performing arts sector.
